SUMMARY:Poetics of Dissent: A Feminist Commons
DESCRIPTION:Poetics of Dissent: A Feminist Commons: \nIn a time of endless war\, genocide and authoritarianism\, how does one imagine a poetics of dissent?  What happens when we shift our attachments to\, and aspirations for dissent from its declarative politics to its wondrous poetics\, to carve out worlds of perpetual invention? Our workshop will engage the dissent-making aesthetics of life-worlds through errant archives that evade the demand for literal recuperation and politics. Two clusters of critical attachments are central here: (1) How do we understand dissent delinked from the redemptive heroics of identity forms and geopolitical territory? (2) How do we attend to a poetics of dissent that summons theoretical/vernacular practices and claims that found political subjectivities/ collectivities? To “dissent” here is an invitation to think more about the messiness and stuckness of our intellectual labors across histories of slavery\, indenture\, colonialism and more. Let us imagine those conversations together. \n
